Taiwan is entering the era of carbon pricing in 2025. In addition to announcing the implementation of carbon fee, the Ministry of Environment is actively developing a Cap-and-Trade (ETS) system, to reinforce carbon reduction efforts in Taiwan, which is anticipated to take effect as early as 2027.

In order to deepen understanding of ETS within Taiwan, CCRS is organizing the “2025 Cap and Trade International ETS Comparison Seminar”, to explore the similarities, differences, and key design considerations of ETS mechanisms worldwide. By delving into the different ETS experiences, the aim is to help set a strong foundation in policy formulation and communication in Taiwan.

The seminar brings together the representatives from academia, industries, and government to provide diverse perspectives. We look forward to exchanging ideas to support Taiwan in developing a practical cap and trade ETS mechanism to align with international systems, and assist national and industrial development toward net-zero emission targets.
